IT PASSED! The final vote count was held October 4th -- the count is 528 in support of the sales tax that would fund a new library and 460 against. The march is on to open a new library!!! See City of Wasilla Election results.
The Friends recognized three individuals at our annual meeting on September 30th.
Best Friend: Dianne Woodruff
During Dianne’s tenure on the City Council she has been a relentless advocate for the library and a supporter of the Friends. Dianne has worked hard to make sure she has facts to be prepared to support the library. Thank you Dianne!
Best Friend: Steve Lovell
Steve passed away in a tragic accident this summer. The Board felt it was important to recognize Steve posthumously for his support of the library. From the time he campaigned through his short time on the City Council, Steve always made it clear that one of his priorities was the building of the new library. A huge thanks to Steve’s family for establishing a library memorial in his name. To date we have received $650 in memory of Steve. This money has been placed in the new building fund.
Friendship Award: Marissa Corleone
Marissa is a sophomore at Colony High and has been a great library volunteer. Marissa aspires to be a writer and has put her love of reading to good use by volunteering for the summer reading program. Thanks Marissa!
